Blackboard 9 Upgrade

We are happy to announce the schedule of Blackboard training sessions around the deployment of Blackboard 9. Basic training sessions will include a Blackboard overview for new Blackboard users and a “What’s New in Blackboard 9″ for existing users of Blackboard that would like an introduction to the new features in Blackboard 9. These sessions include both hands-on sessions held in the Steele Hall training center and sessions offered remotely via video conferencing. Later in September, we will also be offering advanced sessions on the Blackboard Grade Center and the Blackboard Communication tools. To see the schedule of sessions, click here.

We have scheduled a Blackboard 9 guided tour meeting to look the new features coming later this summer. This session will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons in Bird Library, on the first Floor. This presentation will demonstrate the new instructor and student interface for Blackboard, as well as the new tools. Syracuse University will be upgrading the campus Blackboard learning management system during the summer of 2009 to version 9. This version of Blackboard adds additional features and functionality including new student communication tools (blogs and journals), new group tools and a new user interface for instructors. In addition, the technical system architecture will be updated to provide a more reliable and scalable . This new system will be available on July 15, 2009 to support Fall 2009 courses. New information about the upgrade will be posted to this site as we move forward.
